I have many years' experience training people, in both a one-on-one capacity and in group fitness situations. My fitness journey began as a young bodybuilder and then evolved when I began training martial arts, which quickly became my passion. My life changed when I was seriously injured in a car accident; I was unable for a time to compressively load my spine or lift anything heavier than 5kg. My fitness literally saved my life and led me to develop my own unique system of training. My main aim as a trainer is to pass on this knowledge and experience to my clients and to help them be the best they can be.
HENCH FIT SYSTEM
My system of training utilises your own bodyweight for resistance and minimal equipment. As a result it is unique to you. It will allow you to develop your cardiovascular fitness, build muscle and improve your strength. It is very effective in promoting the all-important link between mind and body; an essential requirement for any fighter.
As your fitness improves you will progress through the 3 levels of my system by either completing the workouts in a certain time, or by your ability to perform increasingly more difficult variations of exercises.
1. Subordinate Henchman: The starting point for everyone, as a lot of the movements may be new to you.
2. Henchman: A good level of fitness, you become more confident and determined to push yourself.
3. End Level Boss: The highest ranking. Even I struggle to complete all the workouts to this standard. Nobody is beyond improvement!
I pride myself on my natural approach to health and fitness. Becoming vegan has enabled me to become a better athlete and heal and recover at a much faster rate than I ever did before. But this is my choice, and my journey. I dislike the common stereotype of a 'pretentious vegan', and I am not here to preach or condescend.
I also dislike how expensive vegan food is, and how it is marketed as an aspirational lifestyle. I do believe vegan food is healthier so it is my aim to make this way of life cheap, affordable and easily accessible to everyone.

MARTIAL ARTS TRAINING
I am a graded instructor in the Filippino martial art of Balintawak Arnis. This system primarily utilises Rattan sticks, but is translatable to empty hands, knives, swords, staffs and even improvised weapons such as pens, towels and magazines! Basically anything you can get your hands on can be used as a weapon, and it is a great system to learn for self defense.
Arnis (or Kali) has been featured in many films such as The Bourne Identity and The Hunted. It was watching these films that first inspired me to take up martial arts.
I am a full-contact fighter and compete in Kyokushin tournaments. I also train in all aspects of MMA fighting such as Karate, Kickboxing, Muay Thai and Submission Wrestling.
MMA and boxing are also great ways to improve your fitness and your confidence. Clients training in this way with me can expect to burn up to 1000 calories in an hour!
